Post AI Systems applies one capability-development method across sectors where accountability, evidence and trust are decisive. The method does not change from one area to the next: technical assets and operational requirements become a capability architecture, and from there the partnerships, collaborative R&D and route needed to realise it.
What changes is the context — the requirements, the partners, the standards of proof, and the programmes that apply. The areas below are where we apply it today.

Application areas are the sectors where Post AI Systems applies its capability-development method: defence, security, resilience and dual-use; civic participation and democratic innovation; and deep tech and research. The method is constant across areas — capability architecture, partnerships, collaborative R&D and route — while requirements, partners, standards of proof and programmes vary by context. More areas are added over time.

Defence, Security, Resilience & Dual-Use
Defence, Security, Resilience & Dual-Use Body: A capability-development contribution inside collaborative R&D for civil security, resilience, dual-use and strategic technologies: operational-requirement and use-case mapping, capability architecture, complementary-technology and research-gap analysis, partner-role and work-package logic, and demonstration and validation logic. Programme routes — Horizon Europe Cluster 3, the European Defence Fund and related instruments — follow from the capability, not the other way round.
Civic Participation & Democratic Innovation
Civic Participation & Democratic Innovation Body: The same method applied under high public scrutiny — participation, citizens' assemblies and consultation, where legitimacy, provenance and defensible reporting are non-negotiable. It is one of our strongest proof points, grounded in a coordination role in the Conference on the Future of Europe.

Q1: What is an application area? A: An application area is a sector where we apply our capability-development method. The method is the same across areas — mapping technical assets and operational requirements into a capability architecture, then developing the partners, collaborative R&D and route to realise it. The application area is the context in which it runs: its requirements, partners, standards of proof and relevant programmes. Q2: Is Post AI Systems only focused on defence and security? A: No. Defence, security, resilience and dual-use is one application area among several. We work equally in civic participation and democratic innovation, and in deep tech and research, and we take on new areas where the same standards of accountability and scrutiny apply. The common thread is the method, not the sector. Q3: How is an application area different from a service? A: Services are the stages of work you engage us for — capability architecture and positioning, collaborative R&D and consortium development, and governed AI-enabled delivery systems. Application areas are the sectors those services are applied in. The same services run across every area. Q4: Do all engagements involve AI? A: No. Governed AI is one of our methods, used where it materially improves the capability — for example, structuring evidence, accelerating analysis or orchestrating governed workflows. Many engagements are capability architecture, requirements and consortium work in which AI plays a limited part or none at all. Q5: Can you work in a sector that is not listed here? A: Yes. We take on new application areas where accountability, complex partnerships and scrutinised outputs are central. If your sector fits that description, we would be glad to discuss it. Q6: Do you need deep sector expertise to contribute in these areas? A: Our contribution is the capability architecture, requirements, use cases, partner roles, evidence needs and route — not the specialist technical components, which stay with your team or with partners identified during the work. Where an area needs domain expertise we do not hold, we say so and help define the partner role that should provide it.
